YARMOUTH CARES ABOUT NEIGHBORS – YCAN

YCAN connects resources with people who need them and works to fill the gaps. It provides support services for residents in need, from transportation and heating assistance to a broad array of senior services.

YARMOUTH COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY

If you need food assistance, or have non-perishable items to donate, contact the Yarmouth Community Food Pantry. It is located behind First Parish Church on Storer Street. It is open Tuesdays and Fridays, 10am-noon.

YARMOUTH COMMUNITY SERVICES

This Town department, which is based behind Town Hall, administers a wide variety of community programs and services.

GENERAL ASSISTANCE

The Town of Yarmouth administers General Assistance as a safety net for its most needy residents. It is designed to help residents pay for basic necessities such as rent/mortgage, fuel, non-elective medical services, clothing, personal supplies and food.

CURBSIDE ORDERING

Many major supermarket chains have online ordering and pick-up services (Hannaford-to-go, Shaw’s Fresh Pass, and Whole Foods Online Ordering).

KEEP MAINE HEALTHY

Anyone in Maine over the age of 12 months who feels they need a test for COVID-19 may get a test at participating sites.

Walgreens in Yarmouth is now taking appointments for drive thru Covid-19 testing at no cost.

SUPPORT FOR ISOLATION AND QUARANTINE

People affected by COVID-19 can safely isolate and quarantine with financial and logistical support. This community-based care provides temporary help with food, shelter, income, rent support and transportation.

YARMOUTH CORONAVIRUS NEIGHBORHOOD COORDINATORS 

This is a group of residents who have volunteered to coordinate, communicate, and connect neighbors during this crisis. To  find a neighborhood communicator near you, check out this map. To volunteer as a coordinator, contact Carla Hunt at musseit@yahoo.com

YARMOUTH SEWING WARRIORS 

This group of volunteers work with the Coronavirus Task Force to provide hand-sewn cotton masks to those in need. To date the Sewing Warriors have provided over 3000 masks to schools, hospitals, and those who cannot afford to buy them.

COVID-19 COMMUNITY SUPPORTS FROM DHHS

Support is available to ensure that people affected by COVID-19 can safely isolate and quarantine. DHHS has partnered with 30 community agencies to provide free, temporary help.

SWEETSER INTENTIONAL WARM LINE

The 24-hour Sweetser Intentional Peer Support Warm Line is a mental health peer-to-peer phone support program offering connection with trained specialists who have experience with mental health and/or substance use issues and recovery. The focus is to foster recovery, moving toward wellness and reconnecting with community.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HELPLINE

The statewide Domestic Violence Helpline connects callers with advocates at Domestic Violence Resource Centers and provides information, crisis counseling, emotional support and advocacy.
